Ashwini

अश्विनी

The Star of Transport

Ashwini is the first nakshatra — the doorway of the zodiac. Ruled by Ketu and presided over by the Ashwini Kumaras (the twin celestial physicians), its energy is one of swift first arrival. The horse's head is the symbol: forward motion, instinct, a creature that runs before it thinks too long.

Classical texts associate Ashwini with healing, regeneration, and the courage to start again. The Ashwini Kumaras are physicians not because they have the slowest, most careful hands but because they get there fast and bring restoration where there was loss. People with strong Ashwini placements often carry that paradox — they begin things, sometimes many things, and at their best the beginning itself is the medicine.

The shadow is the same energy unanchored: starting without finishing, leaping before looking, restlessness disguised as decisiveness. Ashwini under stress can chase the next door without sitting at any threshold long enough to be transformed.

If Ashwini is strong in your chart, you may find that the cure for what ails you is movement — not flight, but motion in a chosen direction. The classical remedy is to honour Ketu through humility and the Ashwini Kumaras through service to those who heal.

A note on what this is: nakshatra readings are one of many lenses in a chart. Ashwini's placement is meaningful, but it sits alongside the moon's sign, the ascendant, and the larger transits. No single mansion writes a fate.
